Based on a true story, King Of Devil’s Island takes place on the island of Bastoy in the Oslo fjord during the winter of 1915. The guards of a young offenders’ institution instil a regime of physical and psychological abuse, and exploit the teenage inmates for manual labour. The only way for them to cope is by becoming as inhumane as their tormenters. When the seventeen-year-old Erling arrives, his only thought is of how to escape captivity. But how far is he willing to let events escalate in order to win his freedom?
