    TRAILER Searching For Sugar Man

Check out the trailer below for Searching For Sugar Man, which is showing in cinemas from 27th July 2012.

    Country of Production: Sweden

Sixto Diaz Rodriguez is a Mexican-American folk singer who recorded a single album at the insistence of two music producers who believed he could become a celebrated artist. The album tanked and Rodriguez disappeared back into obscurity. However, bootleg recordings of the album turned up in apartheid South Africa and, unknown to Rodriguez, it spent the next two decades becoming a phenomenon. Searching For Sugar Man is the story of two fans’ attempt to track down their idol, including discovering whether the grisly rumours of his on-stage suicide were true and if not, what became of him in the intervening decades. More importantly, it’s a film about hope and the inspirational power of music.

Searching For Sugar Man won two awards at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival: the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Prize and the World Cinema Documentary Audience Award.
