Asian Movies Meetup
The Asian Movies Meetup was setup at the beginning of 2010 as a joint venture between Third Window Films and Terracotta Distribution, with the goal of extending the reach of Asian cinema in the capital. We aim to get as many people as we can interested in Asian cinema and we handle all these events without receiving any money of any kind from either the patrons nor from the screening locations. It’s all about sharing our passion for Asian cinema, and we hope more and more people can come to love it as much as we do!
With monthly free movie screenings at various venues in London, the Asian Movies Meetup group has amassed an ever-increasing list of members (more than 500 and counting!) ranging from Asian cinema first-timers to seasoned pros who get together and watch a variety of films selected by Adam Torel of Third Window Films, Joey Leung of Terracotta Distribution, as well as the staff of the Terracotta Film Festival. This provides a wide selection of titles, from Adam Torel’s Secret Japanese Movie Meetup, in which an obscure or unseen Japanese movie is shown without its title being revealed before the event, or a more well known and audience friendly title picked by Joey Leung, or even sometimes a preview screening of one of the upcoming titles by either company.
The meetup tends to happen at least once a month, though due to our ever increasing member list we are frequently moving to new and larger venues. There is no entrance fee and people can just signup to the group via the website.
