Twisted Thai Horror The Victim To Be Unveiled This Summer
Distributors MVM have confirmed the August UK release of the latest horror/thriller hybrid from Thai director Monthon Arayangkoon, entitled The Victim.
An aspiring young actress, Ting (Pitchanart Sakakorn), receives an unusual break in her career when the Bangkok Police Department’s Lieutenant Teerasak Kedkaew invites her to play a variety of murder, mugging and rape victims in a series of Crimewatch-style re-enactments. Her success leads her to work in police stations across the city and even a role in a TV soap opera, but it’s the role of former Miss Thailand contestant and high-profile murder victim Meen that she really wants.
As Ting studies footage of the deceased model to get into character, she begins to feel what can only be described as a supernatural connection to Meen, and the overwhelming feeling that the man accused of her murder, her husband Jarun, is innocent. Her investigation into the truth behind the killing will lead her into an increasingly twisted world where reality, fantasy, the supernatural and the media all collide in the most unexpected ways possible.
Asia has developed a strong reputation for delivering some of the most intriguing, imaginative and cutting-edge horror in the world, and judging by its critical buzz The Victim is set to be another must-see from the region.
The Victim will be released on DVD on 6th August 2012.
