Sofie Gråbøl To Appear In US The Killing
The Killing star Sofie Gråbøl is set to appear in the second season of the series’ US remake.
It’s a longstanding tradition that when a remake of a movie is produced, the star of the original will make some sort of inconsequential cameo appearance as a way of acknowledging its source material. However, the custom has been noticeably lacking in the plethora of world cinema and TV remakes up until now.
Sofie Gråbøl, famous to audiences all over the world as the tenacious police detective Sarah Lund, will make an appearance in The Killing remake’s second season, set to air in the UK in May. She will play the small yet significant part of Deputy Attorney Christina Niilsen, a character repeatedly mentioned throughout the first two episodes but only appearing towards the end of the second.
Sadly, most American viewers will be unaware of the significance of the appearance, as despite The Killing’s worldwide success and popularity, it has never aired on US TV. Instead, the audience will likely be left wondering who the pretty woman with the funny accent is and why she was deemed so important.
