Arun (Amol Palekar) is in love with Prabha (Vidya Sinha), a girl he sees everyday at the bus stop, but is unable to gather the courage to talk to her.

When his brash and confident colleague Nagesh (Asrani) also begins taking an interest in Prabha, Arun decides he must take action less he lose Prabha for good. But what should he do?

The answer comes in the form of Colonel Singh (Ashok Kumar), an old military man who plans strategies for love as if they were movements in a great battle.
