SCREENING Bob Marley: The Making Of A Legend
BFI Southbank’s African Odysseys strand presents a double-bill of music inspired films this December. The premiere screening of Bob Marley: The Making Of A Legend (UK/Jamaica) on Saturday, 17th December 2011, comes from directors Esther Anderson (the former partner of Marley) and Gian Godoy and takes look at the Jamaica that influenced Marley’s early years prior to his international success.

A rare photo of Bob Marley, which will help make up this intimate and personal account of a musical legend.
An independently financed film, made with a low budget aesthetic, which offers an intimate and personal account of this extraordinary figure that would otherwise. The documentary looks at the movement at its peak in the ‘70s and incorporates personal footage and historical and contemporary testimonies.
Also screening will be the new documentary Exodus: Finding Shelter (Italy) from directors Tommaso D’Elia and Silvia Bonanni. The documentary follows the fate of the massively successful Rototom Sunsplash reggae festival after local government opposition drove it out of its original home in Italy.
